Vegreville Pysanka
A giant Ukrainian Easter egg sculpture beside Highway 16A.
About Vegreville Pysanka
Vegreville's pysanka is about 9 m long and three and a half storeys high, built from thousands of anodized aluminum tiles. It's one of the best-known roadside attractions on the Yellowhead route.
A brief history
Designed by Paul Maxym Sembaliuk, the sculpture was commissioned by the town and dedicated to the 1975 centennial of the RCMP, a condition of its federal grant. It also honours the early Ukrainian settlements east of Edmonton.
